dharme nashte kulam kritsnam
adharmo 'bhibhavaty uta
With the destruction of dynasty, the eternal family tradition is vanquished, and thus the rest of the family becomes involved in irreligion.
Arjuna points out the importance of family. A family is guided by the elders who are aware of the codes of morality and religiosity. However if these elders were to be killed then youths and women without guidance would act irreligiously, posing a threat to the society.
