Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 1, Verse 42

Chapter 1: Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kurukshetra
Verse: 42
doshair etaih kula-ghnanam
utsadyante jati-dharmah
kula-dharmas ca sasvatah

By the evil deeds of those who destroy the family tradition and thus give rise to unwanted children, all kinds of community projects and family welfare activities are devastated.

Arjuna now extends the breakdown of the family to the society as a whole. Since the community projects are executed by the four orders of the society (varna) which are maintained by the family tradition, with the breakdown of the family system the varnas will cease and community projects which are for the welfare of the society in general will cease causing many hardships. Srila Prabhupada comments, "Therefore, the breaking of the sanatana-dharma tradition by irresponsible leaders of society brings about chaos in that society, and consequently people forget the aim of life-Vishnu. Such leaders are called blind, and persons who follow such leaders are sure to be led into chaos."

Arjuna calls this destruction evil and thus implicitly states that he does not want to participate in evil activities.
